The second-hand marketplace Shoppers Voice Displeasure Regarding Sizing Modifications

Members of the platform have expressed outrage after an update resulted in products showing incorrect sizing.

The popular resale platform has altered its size classifications for female and kids' apparel failing to inform all shoppers about the modification.

Online Platforms Backlash

Numerous buyers and vendors have taken to social media stating that platform listings now display an altered size classification versus the original listing because of the remapping.

The company said the revised method more closely matches similar services.

The platform has recommended to check their listings and manually change the size when needed, causing user dissatisfaction.

Size Classification Changes

Earlier, the measurements included a single numeric size and a letter, for instance S/8 or M/10.

The revised method features a letter with a size spectrum like S/UK 8-10.

In some cases, the sizing has been recategorised - for example a size L was formerly size 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18.

Shopper Experiences

One content creator, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling".

"Not many brands say XL is a 20-22," the way the service now categorizes.

A different member, from Glasgow, stated items she posted on Vinted with size 14 labels were displaying on the service as size 20–22.

"If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they may become frustrated," she said.

Required Changes

Charlotte Lunn, based in Derby, stated she felt frustrated due to the update requiring manual adjustment the sizing for "all her products".

"For me this is particularly frustrating, since I have chronic health issues and selling on Vinted has been paramount for me since losing part of my income," she said.

Marketplace Information

The app has more than 100 million users, including 18 million in the UK.

It has become a favored option compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop.

This isn't the first time where an unanticipated change on the platform has faced criticism: previously, Vinted reversed a change regarding delivery choices after backlash from users.
