Six Individuals Detained Following €12M Robbery on Gold Processing Laboratory in the French Republic

Six armed perpetrators equipped with military-grade weapons detonated charges to break into a gold treatment facility located in the city of Lyon, causing light wounds to five employees during what is being called the most recent prominent daylight theft to hit the nation.

The audacious robbery took place on Thursday afternoon, with police forces swiftly apprehending the individuals believed responsible and securing the stolen items valued at approximately €12M (£10.5M), according to officials.

Five staff members of the gold refining company were slightly hurt due to the explosion, and three employees were taken to a medical facility for assessment, according to regional authorities. A total of twenty-eight staff were inside the facility when the robbers attacked.

The suspects, considered experienced criminals, were taken into custody shortly after the incident in the adjacent municipality of Vénissieux, a source close to the investigation stated.

A woman involved involved in the heist was also apprehended, according to law enforcement.

“Six individuals who used detonations in an attack on a precious metals company in Lyon were caught in the act,” the French interior minister announced via X, praising officers for their “firmness, rapid response and command”.

Military-style weapons, pistols and explosive materials were likewise seized.
