No McKenna Celtic FC Talks as Craig Bellamy Pledges to Welsh National Team

Each are being considered with the manager's job at the Scottish champions following Brendan Rodgers' resignation on Monday.

McKenna's Position on The Scottish Club

The Ipswich boss described Celtic as "a really big football club" but stressed he is "deeply involved" of a "extensive rebuilding" with the Championship side.

The mid-thirties assumed control of Ipswich in recent years and guided the team to the Premier League with back-to-back promotions, but they won just a handful of victories last season as they were demoted back to the second division and they presently occupy twelfth place in England's second tier.

"There have been any of those discussions," the London-born ex- Northern Ireland youth international said when questioned about being on Celtic's shortlist.

"This isn't a matter I have considered seriously, or where any portion of my focus is currently.

"I possess a special position here at a special team. And we're at a crucial phase of the campaign. Everything outside of that hasn't touched my radar."

Background and Contractual Details

Reports indicate that the manager would be willing to talk to Celtic given his childhood support.

"During youth, we all have our affinities," he said when asked about those. "It's unlikely everyone has to go around and announce what they were, but of course it's a massive football club."

The coach signed a fresh multi-year deal in last year and was questioned about his reported buyout clause.

"Throughout coaching agreements, there are things," he responded. "I don't know what my specific terms are and, if I did, I wouldn't tell you anyway!

"I approach this job like I'll be Town's coach indefinitely. I know that's not invariably going to be the case, but I will consistently give maximum effort as long as I am here."

The Welsh Coach's Situation

The former striker played for the Hoops on temporary transfer from Newcastle United in the mid-2000s, but the former Welsh striker is inclined to complete the ongoing World Cup campaign, a position that would practically eliminate the mid-forties from assuming the Glasgow position.

The Welsh squad are currently in third place in their qualifying group behind leaders Belgium and second-placed North Macedonia.

Victories over the minnows and their rivals in next month would book their position in the final qualifying round, but they are virtually assured of making those, thanks to a successful European competition performance, should they not finish as Group J runners-up.

Considering his present stance, Bellamy, whose contract expires after Euro 2028, would not be available until following the play-offs at the minimum.
