Iran Claims Attack on US Base in the Kingdom of Bahrain, During Widespread Counterattacks.

Iran's military claims to have hit a American military facility in Bahrain, as the country executed strikes throughout the Middle East in response for a large-scale and ongoing assault against it by the United States and Israeli forces.

Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an vicinity in the area of the headquarters of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The full scale of any impact is unclear and the US has yet to issue a statement.

Airspace Engagements

In other parts of the Middle East, the United Arab Emirates, the State of Qatar and Kuwait - which all house American military installations - reported they have intercepted missiles in their air space.

In the Qatari capital, Qatar's defence ministry stated it had intercepted a number of projectiles apparently targeting the al-Udeid air base, the largest American base in the Middle East.

Operation "Truthful Promise 4"

Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) stated it was attacking US bases and assets as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the offensive on Iran initiated by the US and Israel on Saturday morning.

That initial attack - initiated at around 06:15 GMT - has so far focused on sites associated with the Tehran's leadership, with President Trump urging the people of Iran to rise up against the regime.

Regional Fallout

In Israel, sirens were heard across the country after the Israel Defense Forces reported it had detected an incoming Iranian missile barrage.

The Ministry of Defence of the United Arab Emirates announced that the country has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"Emirati air defenses engaged the missiles with notable success and destroyed a number of missiles," the statement continued.

The statement noted missile fragments fell on a neighborhood in Abu Dhabi, resulting in some property damage and killing a civilian.

The US Air Force operates from the Al Dhafra base, to the south of Abu Dhabi, along with the UAE Air Force.
