In a decisive runoff election, hardline candidate José Antonio Kast has won the presidential office in Chile.

After over 99% of polling stations reporting, Kast secured 58.17% of the ballots, overcoming leftist contender Jeannette Jara, who received 41.83%.

This represents Kast's third bid for the presidency, having previously been defeated by the sitting president, Gabriel Boric, in the 2021 runoff.
