Alleged Bondi Beach Attackers Acted Alone and Received No Training in the Southeast Asian Nation, Authorities Confirm.

The two alleged individuals who carried out the deadly attack at a Hanukkah event on Bondi Beach, which claimed 15 lives, reportedly been lone actors, per Australian law enforcement.

Investigators also confirmed that Sajid Akram, 50, and his 24-year-old son Naveed Akram travelled to the Philippines on 1 November. Their itinerary involved landing in the main city Manila before transiting on the day of arrival to Davao City. The father and son returned to Sydney on 29 November.

Lack of Proof of Training During Stay

Police assert the individuals did not undergo any type of terrorist coaching or "organizing" during their stay in the Philippines. Initial findings from Philippine officials suggest they "mostly stayed in" their hotel.

The shooting—declared Australia's most severe firearm massacre since 1996—has been formally classified as a act of terrorism.

"We are actively reviewing the evidence," the commissioner stated, adding that early reviews suggest that "the alleged offenders are alleged to have acted alone."

National law enforcement Chief Krissy Barrett informed the press on Tuesday that CCTV footage showing the accused attackers' movements in the Philippines had been handed over to domestic authorities.

"Our investigation shows little to no indication to indicate these accused individuals were part of a broader network, or were instructed by others to execute an attack," she stated.

Yet, the men were also not necessarily in the Philippines on a leisure trip, Commissioner Barrett noted. She stressed that, since the investigation is ongoing, new evidence might come to light.

Earlier, Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese commented it looks as though both alleged gunmen were "motivated by ISIS" ideology.

During the attack, Sajid Akram was fatally shot by police. He and his son Naveed—both armed with rifles—allegedly opened fire on attendees at the Hanukkah event.

Naveed Akram, who was wounded after the shooting, has been charged with 59 offences. These encompass 15 counts of murder and one count of carrying out a act of terrorism. He is due to face court in April.

Immigration Particulars

In the wake following the attack, immigration officials in the Philippines reported that the father had arrived in the country using an Indian passport, while his son used an domestic passport.

The pair had listed the southern city of Davao as their final destination. Their pre-arranged journey back to Australia was for Sydney.
